Love is plant-based and it cannot be the other way around.
To make it clear from the very beginning: the connection between love and plant-based diets does not imply only the love for animals. The purpose of this article is to go far beyond this aspect and analyze the link between our food and the world within us and how this connection affects our reality.
Love and veganism are interrelated and complementary on all levels. Indeed, love for all living creatures is a powerful, liberating, and inspiring feeling but there is so much more to it. And yes, a vegan diet will make your sex life better (scientifically proven) and who doesn’t want that? But is the physical oneness the ultimate goal? No, it is not. We are not our physical bodies and we are not our thoughts or emotions. We are more than that. We are a state of being, we are pure consciousness. Love is not an emotion, it is a state of being. We are love and it is time to stop running away from the reality of ourselves and embrace our true nature.
So how can a vegan diet elevate this state of being and how can our food lead us to rediscover the truth of ourselves and love unconditionally?
What is love anyway?
Each of us will have his own definition and level of perceiving it. However, there is a confusion here that needs to be clarified. Just think of this: the word emotion comes from the Latin word “emovere” which means to disturb. Anxiety, frustration, jealousy, envy, hatred, greediness are emotions. Fear of love is an emotion. Love is not. Of course, we also have positive feelings of joy, peace, harmony, fulfillment etc. Love is more than each of them and more than all of them together. He, who has never loved, lived in vain, for there is nothing greater and there will never be.
Running away from love is running away from who you are. It dwells within you and will always be there. Love is not something you can keep once you received it. It flows like the waves of the ocean. It comes and goes and yet it is always there. He, who knows how to receive without keeping will never lack it. Open your eyes and observe. Watch it, embrace it, feel it. One we are.
The essence of oneness
The idea of oneness is older than we are, way much older and the literature is limitless. We will just quote a few.
“Those who experience the unity of life see their own self in all beings” . Buddha
I am the All. Cleave a piece of wood, and I am there. Lift up a stone, and You will find Me there. (Gospel of Thomas)
“You in me and I in you“. John 14:20
“Or do you not realize about yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you? ” 2 Corinthians 13:5
“If we can cultivate a concern for others, keeping in mind the oneness of humanity, we can build a more compassionate world.” Dalai Lama
“ A person experiences life as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. Our task must be to free ourselves from this self-imposed prison and through compassion to find the reality of Oneness.” Albert Einstein
“Quantum physics thus reveals a basic oneness of the universe“. Erwin Schrodinger
“To love is to recognize yourself in another.” Eckhart Tolle
“The new physics provides a modern version of ancient spirituality. In a universe made out of energy, everything is entangled, everything is one“. Bruce Lipton
Both religion and science have proven that we are one with the universe, we are all part of the creation and we all obey the same rules of existence. Oneness is the foundation of everything and awareness of oneness is the path to true harmony within. Yet, nothing can be achieved without love. If one we are, love is the way to enlightenment. We should not confuse love with the obsession with possessions as love is not an object and it can not be retained.
How our food affects our reality
Now please ask yourself this question: Can we be one, can we achieve that state of non-dual awareness when what we feed ourselves with symbolizes fear, pain, and death?
The bacon in your morning sandwich is not just a food product that tastes good. Revenge tastes good too, in the short term. In a long term though, it represents sickness and degradation.
If the whole universe is within then how can we be in harmony with ourselves if our actions and choices disrupt this harmony in the very same universe? As long as we have other choices (and we do have plenty of choices that just happen to be healthier), we could definitely change the vibration we operate on and allow the pure energy to flow within. Energy is all there is, and quantum physics has demonstrated this. Our bodies are made of cells, cells made of atoms, atoms made of protons, neutrons, and electrons, and these tiny particles are pure energy. Do you really believe that dead corpses will provide the same quality of energy as the plants do? On the other hand, love and plant-based diets are complementary and can only benefit us.
We know that the connection is so profound that by simply moving a finger on one continent, someone else will feel it on the other side of the planet. There must be some sort of consciousness behind the way the electrons behave and we can only hope that modern science will soon agree on this mechanism and discover the unified theory. As one of the greatest men who ever walked on this planet said:
“My brain is only the receiver. In the universe, there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength, inspiration. I have not penetrated into the secrets of this core but I know it exists.” Nicola Tesla
We live in the era of consciousness. Never before has human nature wondered so much about why are we here and where do we go. Our thoughts and feelings are a powerful tool and how we use this tool today is crucial to our own survival. Climate change is not a joke. People are overwhelmed with depression and anxiety. Our home is on fire and many of us live in darkness.
The light is within and that light is love. And love is plant-based.
- Love is selfless. Having a steak for dinner because it tastes good is selfish. It costs billions of lives each year.
- Love is generous. Drinking milk is greedy. Cow’s milk is intended for her babies, not for you.
- Love is unconditional. Wearing a mink’s coat is not.
- Love is feeling at home. Slaughterhouse is not a home.
- Love is who we are and we are not murderers.
- Love is inspiring and innovative and we can find better solutions.
- Love is free of possessions and it is time to free ourselves.
- Love is plant-based.
A plant-based diet is a good first step. And if you can’t be loving all the time, can you be loving most of the time? Or start being a loving person more often than you used to?
The domino effect of the plant based-diets.
There is another amazing aspect that we should not neglect and this is the “domino effect”. When you feed yourself with cruelty-free food products, you will start observing more how the body feels and the effects the plant-based diet produces. You will see what works for you and what doesn’t and in this detox euphoria, your body will ask for more. It will be begging you for a walk, for a swim, for a hike, for a bike for whatever makes you feel active and energetic. And guilt will go away. It is so liberating to know that nobody had to die for you to live. If you never felt that guilt, just wait until you feel the difference within.
Furthermore, the breath itself will get a different connotation. And love will be there getting stronger and stronger, filling your whole body, your room, your city, the whole planet. Imagine feeling so much love inside that would be enough to send it mentally to the whole world. And that is where you will find yourself involuntarily meditating and visualizing a better world. And as you imagine it, you become it.
Love is plant-based and it cannot be the other way around.
Happy Valentine’s day! Today and everyday.
